Summative Assessment
The summative evaluation will take place with all the stakeholders: my mentors, math staff, principal, and students. After this first course is complete, I will also survey randomly selected prior students. The evaluation will be dynamic and change as the project develops. I will use an e-mail invitation to get volunteer teacher colleagues becuase we are out of school session until fall, when I hope to have this up and running. As the data is gathered, results will be analyzed and modificaions made as necessary. Beginning week 3, students will take benchmark tests which will be carefully monitored. The surveys will be delivered via email notification with a link to SurveyMonkey (2011) to ensure that the respondent is the person selected to fill out the form.
Problem of the Week
In addition to assignments, quizzes and tests, students will develop math skills through the weekly enrichment activity, or Problem of the Week (POW). This problem will be due the last day of each week (normally Thursday). Each POW has four parts - the main problem and three exercises which further develop the strategy introduced in the main problem.
